Mission Statement and Room Rules

MISSION: To make a room where LGBTQ+ minorities, as well as intersectional groups, are given a space to be welcomed, a platform, and place to be themselves. We want queer users of Politics to feel safe enough to socialize, as well as have challenging discussions and disagreements without fear of threats.

  1. Do not use slurs against minorities; ex: belittle and shame them, or to make a minority's status the bunt of a joke (derogatory).
  2. Do not dehumanize or challenge the existence of any identity under the LGBTQ+ umbrella.
  3. Treat the room with respect; no spamming (voice and text), rampant over-talking, etc.
  4. Do not harass users, both outside and within the room.
  5. Try and keep topics around LGBTQ+ themes; when a mod recenters the conversation to LGBTQ+ themes please respect that.
  6. Intentionally goading LGBTQ+ folk into anger or a fight is prohibited; this also includes queer bashing.
  7. Advocation or support of violence, dehumanization, or extermination of the LGBTQ+ community is not to be spoken here.
  8. Spreading of misinformation, such as LGBTQ+ peoples are all pedophiles, or social contagion theory, etc, is open game for moderators.
  9. Keep mod grievances, intra or inter mod disputes, to moderation itself and outside the LGBTQ+ room.

Ratified by vote January 15, 2024.

Former User Rules

These are the general rules for participants in the room. They should apply to any and all VC speakers, as well as the associated side chat. Serious server rule violations falling under or outside of these rules will be handled by server staff.

  1. Do not overtalk.
  2. Do not use any homophobic/transphobic slurs.
  3. Any blatant spreading of misinformation will not be tolerated.
  4. Trolling will not be tolerated
  5. Do not accuse any facet of the LGBT+ community of being pedophiles.
  6. Keep things relatively civil.
  7. Do not harass other users in the VC or in DMs. Continuous, intentional misgendering of server members falls under this category, and is not tolerated.
  8. Keep the topic either on or around LGBT+ issues.
  9. Do not advocate or support violence against LGBT+ people.

Use your best discretion when enforcing these. Make it a nice place!
